Hi all.i dj at my local pub and i use an old acer labtop to dj its about 7 years old and i have never had a problem with it but it is strarting to freeze now. so ive got a dell 1545 lab top the sound is terrible why do thay sound so bad i have tried all the setting but it still sounds as bad.and even the media player is bad to .i will never by dell again

I was so excited to get my new Studio. Turned it on, went to try it out with the WMP and a little pre-loaded Beethoven. Couldn’t even hear it without my ear over the keyboard. By far the WORST sound of any electronic device I own.

I went googling and found plenty of other people with the same reaction as myself. I tried the same fix you found and posted. The speakers still sound like crap, but at least it’s loud crap. I’m still within my returnable time period. Haven’t yet decided what I’ll do…it’s an awesome machine, but I do not get why we have to make these changes, and whomever made this decision’s head oughta roll.

I just found a potential “fix” to help with the Dell Studio 15 speakers. The tip is to remove the Dell audio drivers and use the default Vista drivers. Too bad I can’t confirm the fix myself, but you may want to give it a try if you still have the laptop.

Same issues here. I even got them to send me a new one. Finally they told me that is just the way it sounds and nothing can be done. They sold me an external sound card to but it still sounds like crap with that and external speakers. After over 10 hours trying to get this resolved I give up. If you are within your 21 days of purchase and want to ever watch a movie or listen to music on your laptop, return it now. I just can’t wait to pay mine off, and sell it with a note about the sound, because unlike Dell, I couldn’t live with myself pretending this was acceptable.

mine is the same!!!….had an old acer travelmate with a dirty volume control and it sounded much better….i to have tried all updates…haven’t called tech. because i can’t understand them and i would just get pissed!!!!!!!!!!…..hope a solve comes around soon!!

Same deal – out of the box the speakers sucked… Loaded driver updates, tweeked this and that but still crap sound. By far the worst sound on any decent laptop I’ve ever heard. Dell support in India sucks, they have no clue and treat you as if you’re a dip shit.

Dell has gone down hill.

same here. this laptop is a mid range one, but absolutely speakers are totally a disappointment especially when you sign up to pay more for a quality OEM like DELL
My previous latitude was much better in terms of the audio quality
